Jean Antoinette Poisson ~ December 29, 1721 - April 15, 1764
Well I had to break the Photoshop in on my new laptop and who better to christen it with than one of my favorite women of history, Madame de Pompadour.
I made this wallpaper of François-Hubert Drouais' portrait of Reinette Poisson because it is my second favorite portrait of her (the first being her coronation portrait by François Boucher).
Reinette died of tuberculosis at the age of 42 before Drouais could complete the portrait, but he finished it soon after her death as a memorial to her, he was her favorite portraitist.
